This is the definition of Motivational Interviewing “Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative conversation style for strengthening a person’s own motivation and commitment to change”
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a collaborative counseling method that helps people change their behaviors. MI is a person-centered approach that uses a respectful stance and directive interactions to help clients explore ambivalence and resolve it. The goal is to strengthen a person's motivation to change and commit to a goal.
