Medication Supported Recovery This 4-hour course is designed for mental health professionals to provide an overview of Medication Supported Recovery. The course will cover the basics of medication-assisted treatment (MAT), its role in addiction recovery, and explore different types of medication that can be used in the treatment of addiction and how they work. Learners will also gain insight into the benefits and challenges of medication-supported recovery and how it can be integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan. During the training, participants will also confront common myths and misconceptions about medication-assisted treatment and how to address them. Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to: -Describe the different types of medication-assisted treatment and their role in addiction recovery. -Understand the benefits and challenges of medication-supported recovery. -Identify common myths and misconceptions about medication-assisted treatment and how to address them. -Develop strategies to integrate medication-supported recovery into a comprehensive treatment plan. Delivery Method: The course will be delivered in a variety of styles, including lectures, small group work, partner exercises, journaling, worksheets, and large group discussion. The variety of approaches will cater to different learning styles and assist everyone in meeting all the objectives. The experiential style helps learners practice what they have learned in a live class style, while the introspective journaling helps apply these lessons in a personalized way per each individual. MAT Training Description: This MAT training aims to empower advocates and coaches to communicate more effectively with individuals/clients. The training will address common myths and misconceptions about medication-assisted treatment and provide strategies to address them. It will also provide insights into the benefits and challenges of medication-supported recovery and how it can be integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan. The training will empower advocates to reduce stigma and overcome their own barriers with this pathway to recovery.
